Together with his wife Emilie, the Sudeten German entrepreneur Oskar Schindler (1908-1974) saved 1,200 Jews from the Nazi extermination camps. This act of humanity and civil courage only became known to the general public in 1993 with the feature film Schindler's List. To mark the 50th anniversary of Oskar Schindler's death, the Sudetendeutsches Museum (Sudeten German Museum) is organising a special exhibition to tell the story of his rescue operation and illustrate the life of a man with charisma and contradictory character traits.
