F.S. Hartmann was a clerk at the Fürstenfeldbruck District Court and very interested in history, especially prehistory. During the construction of the railway line in 1870/71, significant finds turned up between Aubing and Grafrath, which he drew in a precise and at the same time artistically appealing manner. His drawings, some of which are in watercolour, are the only evidence of some of the pieces that still exist today. The Historical Society for the City and District of Fürstenfeldbruck is showing original finds from the Stone Age to the Roman period that were found in the area of the Allgäu railway line as well as drawings by Franz Seraphin-Hartmann in a small cabinet exhibition in its archaeological department at the Museum Fürstenfeldbruck (Museum Fürstenfeldbruck).
