Light of the mountains

Spectacular 360-degree panoramic views of the most beautiful peaks in the Bavarian Alps are on display in the "Light of the Mountains" retrospective. The native Ammer Mountains and the Lechtal Alps are the focus for the exhibition in Lechbruck. Also to be discovered in macro shots are details on the summit, by the wayside and in forest clearings.

Dr Andreas Struck, who studied biology and philosophy, sees himself as a photographer and philosopher of nature. For 50 years, he has been out and about in his native nature with his camera. The art of seeing in nature is central to Andreas Struck. Creative walking in the mountains is his concern and mindfulness as the basis of an understanding of nature that is always to be worked out anew.

"I show you pictures in which time, light and perspective play a special role" explains Andreas Struck. Whether in snow all white, 360-degree panoramas in red sunrise, pastel-coloured fog views or a colourful enchanted world of blossoms: in borderless large format or in small frames, these pictures tell their story. What is important to the photographer is: "Perceiving what is, when it becomes. Only the change remains." Each picture shows a different moment of light.

In his photographic works, Andreas Struck is guided by a sober realism. He has visited some views and places many times and transformed them into a picture again and again. All of them are dear to him, he says, in any weather and at any time, but some become a special moment. "Through my encounters with nature over decades, I perceive nature in a special way and translate it into photographs," the nature philosopher describes his experiences. He says it is like looking for the blue flower in recurring places - a motif of German Romanticism that strives for fulfilment from nature and develops into a comprehensive concept of life.
