Hanne Darboven & Julia Gaisbacher: Am Burgberg
26.10.2023 - 03.12.2023 ,
Kunstraum München (Art Space Munich)
The exhibition Am Burgberg presents a juxtaposition of works by the two artists as well as two new works by Julia Gaisbacher that relate to Darboven's lifelong residence and workhouse Am Burgberg in Hamburg-Harburg.
In the 1960s, Hanne Darboven (1941-2009) founded conceptual art together with artist friends. Her central contribution to the emergence of Conteptual Art is that she succeeded in developing independent methods for representing periods of time - days, months, years or even a century. In addition to this central aspect of time, the exhibition is primarily dedicated to the concrete location of this artistic practice.
Julia Gaisbacher (*1983) is creating two new works for the exhibition. For this, she has been researching on site in Hamburg-Harburg since the summer of 2022. She approaches Hanne Darboven's estate with photographic and filmic methods, conducts interviews with various companions for this artistic research and reconstructs the camera shots of Der Mond ist aufgegangen in the streets of Harburg.
