Born in Swabia, Heike Sauer has lived in Ulm since 1997. As Marlies Blume, she has been touring cabaret stages across the country for almost 30 years. She has also been working as a visual artist since 2010.
The pink thread: Humour, irony, a great love of people and a bit of kitsch. There can be a little more of that. Heike Sauer collects old mementos, everyday objects, discarded and unwanted items.
It is seldom as innocently kitschy and colourful as it sounds: Behind the colourful bric-a-brac façade of her works lurk profundity, satire and sometimes even bitterly wicked humour. Rearranged, it is then served, life. Just as it is: sweet and sour.
