"Colour and the process of creation: Maria Seidenschwann's paintings neglect form. The expressiveness of the colour and the process of creation are the absolute
centre stage.

In the fire paintings you can see the energy with which Maria Seidenschwann went to work. Her paintings are clearly categorised as Informel (French for "formless"). The artists of the
Informel artists rejected geometric forms as well as abstract representations of real objects and any kind of conceptualised (i.e. planned) representation.
Instead of the tectonic, the spontaneous and unconscious nature of the painting process should be emphasised, whereby the emotion should achieve direct expression. The painterly process thus becomes almost as important in Art Informel as the finished work of art." (Johannes M. L. Pasquay)
