Important information:
Astronomers have been observing the sky for thousands of years. The rising and setting of the stars, planets and the Milky Way, the arrangement and movement of the stars were studied and measured. This knowledge was used to organise our time, create calendars and provide orientation for journeys. But by what means was man able to achieve this?
The newly established Time and Space department displays the astonishingly precise observation and surveying instruments, models of the prevailing world views as well as solar and mechanical clocks from the 16th to the 18th century.
