Finding Homeland: Fahar Al-Salih & Simone Distler

One of the core themes in the works of artist Fahar Al-Salih is home - a very personal subject that he nevertheless repeatedly opens up as an artistic space for the viewer. "My first painting at the age of 10 showed motifs such as mountains and huts to depict the abstraction of home and to use this as a symbol of security and safety on the one hand and a feeling of freedom on the other.
Simone Distler's oeuvre consists of landscape-like motifs. She creates natural-looking formations, always on the verge of abstraction, which evoke concrete moods in the viewer. On the joint project, Simone Distler says: "What touches me about our exhibition title is the vulnerability of the human being, which has a place in it. Life can be so hard and tough, but basically we are all looking for comfort, support, meaning and protection.
