The exhibition offers the opportunity to immerse oneself in the world of Ancient Egypt in the middle of Lower Bavaria. The centrepiece of the show is a reconstruction of Sennedjem's burial chamber. Sennedjem was one of only a few chosen artisans who were allowed to design the tombs of pharaohs such as Ramses II more than 3,000 years ago. Sennedjem also used his knowledge and skills to build his own burial chamber for himself and his family.
In the walk-in burial chamber, visitors discover highly secret scenes from the so-called Egyptian Book of the Dead. The scenes of the gods that appear in it are presented in the exhibition together with high-quality replicas of figures of the gods. In addition, the life of the artisans in the settlement of Deir el-Medina and the Egyptian art of sculpture form a further focus. Two originals from Bavaria will also be on display in the exhibition.
