Language that moves: Since its opening in March, the exhibition "Yiddish. Jewish. Taitsch." has been inspiring visitors since its opening in March.

The exhibition tells the story of a language that was also spoken in Bavaria for around eight centuries - and whose traces can still be found in everyday life today, for example in terms such as "Tacheles", "angeschickert" or "Hals- und Beinbruch". "Boazn", "Kaff" or "schmusen" - many words still remind us today of the close coexistence of Jewish and non-Jewish people in Swabia.

Yiddish was spoken, written, printed and sung: The interactive exhibition presents this diversity - and invites visitors to discover, try out and be amazed with listening, reading and hands-on stations. Children can learn their first Yiddish words with a memory game. With examples from Augsburg, Swabia and all over the world, the exhibition provides lively access for all age groups to an almost forgotten, yet highly contemporary language.

As a lively cultural venue, the Ehemalige Synagoge Kriegshaber (Former synagogue) is transformed into a small Yiddish cultural centre for the entire duration of the exhibition. Events centred around the Yiddish language are regularly held here - some of them in Yiddish.
