From 23 March to 26 October 2025, the Doktor-Eisenbarth- und Stadtmuseum is presenting the special exhibition "Fire & Flame - Fire History(ies) of Oberviechtach". The occasion is the 160th anniversary of the Oberviechtach volunteer fire brigade and the 35th anniversary of the youth fire brigade.
Visitors to the special exhibition can expect a journey through time: From the first fire wardens, the "Türmern", to the beginnings of the organised fire brigade and firefighting in the 20th century.
The exhibition sheds light on the dramatic major fires in the city's history, the development of the fire service and the changes in fire-fighting techniques. Historical exhibits, eyewitness accounts and extracts from the fire service chronicle provide fascinating insights into the challenges of firefighting then and now.
