Die Neue Sammlung was founded on 21 May 1925. Exactly 100 years later to the day, Die Neue Sammlung presents itself with an exhibition of 100 objects. The selection to mark the 100th anniversary illustrates the richness and diversity of its collection. With over 120,000 international objects in more than 20 collection areas, Die Neue Sammlung is the largest design museum in the world.
In addition to iconic works and testimonies to the collection's history, numerous treasures that have never before been on display in the Pinakothek der Moderne (Pinacotheca of the Modern) are on show. The presentation does not follow a traditional chronology. Instead, it focuses on the time in which the objects came to the museum and thus provides a new perspective on the history of the museum.
