Paula Scher (*1948) is the most internationally influential and successful graphic designer of her time. Her ideas have inspired generations of designers and have become icons of graphic design. The artist places type, i.e. typography, at the centre of her work. With "Paula Scher: Type is Image", Die Neue Sammlung - The Design Museum presents the artist's first solo exhibition in Germany.
From her early award-winning record covers of the 1970s to her many years of work for the New York Public Theatre and corporate identity commissions such as those for Microsoft Windows 8 to her most recent works on hand-painted maps, the entire range of her work will be on display in the form of outstanding designs.
With "Paula Scher: Type is Image", Die Neue Sammlung - The Design Museum playfully presents the comprehensive and diverse oeuvre of this graphic designer in a newly developed space-related staging.
