In the 1960s, skiing became a mass phenomenon. The enthusiasm for winter
the enthusiasm for winter sports was welcomed by the medical profession, but at the same time the
the rise in skiing accidents and the injuries associated with them. So how was the general population to be guided safely through the snow?
The Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation answered this question with a television programme. The "Tele-Skig
The programme "Tele-Skigymnastik", first broadcast in 1967, was intended as dry training for the home and quickly became a hit. Soon a book and record were published to accompany the programme. The exercises prepared inexperienced ski fans conditionally and technically for the next ski season and reduced the risk of injury. At least that's what the producers promised.
How to inspire a population that was increasingly suffering from a lack of exercise and the associated

mass media for skiing and other sports? How was the new knowledge of sports and preventive medicine communicated in a low-threshold way and with public appeal? And how did ski gymnastics become part of the great "Trimm-Dich" movement? The exhibition takes you back to a time when winters were still hard and tracksuits were still orange!
