Hunting & Forest

The landscape connects Bavaria and Bohemia, as does the cultural and natural heritage. In future, the Centrum Bavaria Bohemia would like to supplement the permanent exhibition on the Green Belt with changing exhibitions over several months on various aspects of the cultural and natural heritage of the Green Belt. The first exhibition in the series is "Forest & Hunting".
The connection between the Green Belt and hunting is an obvious one. One of the largest contiguous forest areas in Central Europe is located along the Bavarian-Czech Green Belt. Hunting plays an important role in its conservation. A publication by the Bohemian-Moravian Hunting Association contains the beautiful quote: "The removal of the wires on the western border not only brought freedom to the people, but also to the game. On the Bavarian side, as a result of the free migration of hoofed game in particular, more high seats were built than the Czechoslovakian border guard ever had watchtowers."
The young artist Iva Ščerbáková paints wild animals for the exhibition. Visitors to the exhibition will first encounter wildlife and its role in the ecosystem. The hand-painted pictures add to the charm of the handmade and natural materials in the exhibition.
