Lake Wöhrsee lies at the foot of Burghausen (Burghausen Castle). It is known as a place for bathing and a true natural oasis, but its history is even more multifaceted: Wöhrsee has fulfilled many functions for mills and craft businesses, as part of the fortifications or for sporting events and magnificent lake festivals. The exciting new special exhibition at the town museum traces the different sides of Lake Wöhrsee in the past and present and has many a surprise in store. Did you know that the Wöhrsee basin was once intended to become a zoo for the Bavarian dukes?
