This exhibition once again focuses on the diversity of the Buchheim Museum's collection. It follows a similar approach to the spring exhibition "With an alert eye & a gifted hand". However, the selection differs greatly from the earlier show and follows new themes. The world-famous expressionist masterpieces from the Buchheim Collection are combined with new works from the Hierling Collection, other lesser-known pieces from the Buchheim Collection and previously unseen acquisitions from the Buchheim Foundation.

In keeping with the season, autumn and winter views have been given preference in the landscapes this time. Nocturnal motifs also play a major role. The joys of ice skating can be seen, but carnival, funfairs and circus acrobatics are also thematised. Once again, juxtapositions of very different works bring common motifs into focus. The styles range from secessionist works to expressive pictorial inventions and factual-realistic depictions through to naive representations.
