In his pictures, Helmut Pfeuffer (born in 1933) visualises a multi-layered reality in which past, present and future coincide.

In the midst of an art world dominated by Art Informel since the late 1940s, the painter has worked unwaveringly for decades on his pictorial realities, which are characterised by an exaggeration of colour and an expressive intensification of the figurative. Pfeuffer's themes are landscape and figure, which for him form two sides of the same coin in the sense of a holistic view of nature.

"The experience of nature is condensed in Pfeuffer's painting into expressive landscape and figure pictures that symbolise a threatened world [...], reality becomes an emotional parable for him" (Mathias Arnold, 1988).

The exhibition is curated by Erich Schneider in co-operation with Helmut and Irmin Pfeuffer
