The exhibition is dedicated to the 2023 cultural theme of the year "Flying high". The artists Thyra Thorn and Isolde von Reusner depict "Flying higher and higher" - the journey to places of longing both near and far - in paintings and art objects. The author Guido Frei contributes texts. The artworks and texts are recorded in a free accompanying booklet.

The starting point is the Salzstadel. Once the centre of the salt trade, it has since developed into a tourist magnet and a meeting point for visitors from all over the world who are attracted by an interest in times gone by. Both the longing for the old, the "foundation" of the city, as well as the departure into the new, into the far distance, are themes of the exhibition. Unfortunately, flying harbours many dangers. The longest flight - even to Mars - can end in an ignominious crash. We lose feathers. Our bodies go into a spin. We crash.
