Intervention: Cuckoo’s Eggs

Contemporary works of visual art transform the museum into a unique, temporary space for viewing and reflection. Twenty-five members of this long-established association – comprising artists based primarily in Bavaria who represent a wide variety of 21st-century artistic approaches, ranging from classical sculpture to video art – comment on and subvert the familiar layout of the exhibition route across several galleries on the main floor. Under the provocative title ‘Cuckoo’s Eggs’, contemporary works encounter centuries-old testimonies to human creativity, sparking fascinating dialogues.

Acting as an enrichment in the sense of creative disruptive elements, they form inspiring pillars for speculative bridges between the eras, their artistic forms and concepts.

The intervention resembles a thrillingly charged exploration of tension and is, at the same time, an original exercise in perceptual awareness: whether thought-provoking, profound or humorous, it is always incisive and entertaining, sharpening our focus on human sensibilities in the past and present from the perspective of art.
