An exhibition organised by the Bavarian State Archives in cooperation with the Max-Josef-Stift grammar school. Max I Joseph, the 200th anniversary of whose death is on 13 October 2025, was married twice and had eight daughters.

The eldest daughter Auguste was married to Napoleon's stepson, Eugène de Beauharnais. The second marriage produced, among others, the later Archduchess Sophie of Austria and Ludovika, the mother of the future Empress Elisabeth of Austria.

In addition to the female members of Max Joseph's family, the exhibition also focusses on his efforts to provide a contemporary education for girls. Today's Max-Josef-Stift grammar school was modelled on the French model. Separate exhibition sequences are dedicated to the history of the school and the school partnership with the girls' school of the Legion of Honour in St. Denis, which has existed since 1989.
