Livestock were once indispensable to farmers: for pulling ploughs and carts, as suppliers of milk and meat, eggs and wool, but also as producers of fertiliser. However, this most valuable asset of rural agriculture was constantly at risk, as it could be killed off by disease and epidemics in a short space of time. For this reason, the health of farm animals and, where necessary, their cure was a top priority for farms.

The exhibition highlights important aspects and significant developments in veterinary medicine in Bavaria. Exceptional exhibits from the Deutsches Museum Nürnberg (German Museum Nuremberg), the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at LMU Munich and Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg provide fascinating insights.
