With "Kräuterschnaps" (Herbal Liquor), Lukas Hoffmann and Youngjun Lee show herbaceous plants that grow out of the floor and walls and could look like creatures. With their new works, they transform the exhibition space of the Artothek into a forest clearing. Lukas Hoffmann develops his sculptures with his whole body. That means with intuition, everyday impressions, the dense potpourri of visual memory and the intelligence of muscles and sinews. Each individual work, currently flowers and branches, long-stemmed and prickly, can become the starting point or building block of another. Through their interplay and the way they are placed in space, his sculptures take on a narrative character. Often they seem like a snapshot from a scenario.

Youngjun Lee's work moves between abstraction and figuration. In his paintings, Lee constructs different spaces. It is a play of sparkling colour, brushstrokes, soft colour gradients, layers of paint, scribbles, airbrush gestures and comic-like outbursts. Signs are created at random. Intuitively created effects enrich this interplay without losing sight of the picture composition.
