By Teutates! The most famous Celts from a village full of indomitable folk have set off for the Altmühl this time.
In Alkimoennis, Asterix meets Alcmona, the Celtic goddess who gave the river its name – and invites visitors of all ages on an exciting journey into the world of the Celts.
Immerse yourself and your family in a bygone era and discover the impressive Oppidum Alkimoennis on Michelsberg. Here, history comes to life: meet Celtic warriors, skilled craftsmen and travelling traders, and learn how people lived over 2,000 years ago.
There is plenty for children in particular to discover and try out: they can grind grain themselves on a specially made hand-operated mill, dress up as Celts, and marvel at a Celtic chariot – an early ancestor of the tank. The exhibition, originally conceived by KeltenWelten e.V., has been enhanced by the team at the Archaeological Museum of the City of Kelheim with models, original finds, vivid installations and a lovingly designed Playmobil® world.
The programme is further enriched by exciting guided tours, creative hands-on activities, walks and adventure trails around the oppidum.
