In 2025, the exhibition "Planet Africa - An Archaeological Journey Through Time" will make a guest appearance at the Archäologische Staatssammlung (State Archaeological Collection). This innovative, cross-continental exhibition project by the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the Deutsches Museum (German Museum) focuses on African archaeology.
Africa is the continent with the longest human presence. This is where our origins lie, as well as those of our evolutionary ancestors, who adapted to constant changes in their habitats and developed new survival strategies. Over the millennia, new cultural techniques and nutritional strategies have been introduced to the world from Africa.
Archaeological finds, pictorial works and written records offer insights into the art, crafts, technology and environment of past times and provide evidence of long-distance exchange. Excavations of settlements reveal urban structures, while at the same time diverse mobile ways of life existed.
