Teamwork, interaction, co-working - it may sound modern, but it already existed in the 17th century. Peter Paul Rubens, the most important painter of monumental history paintings with large figures at the time, and Jan Brueghel the Elder, the undisputed specialist for detailed landscapes and still lifes, often worked together. The important "Madonna in a Wreath of Flowers" is considered one of the highlights of this co-operation.

From summer onwards, all eyes will be on the exciting process of creating the painting. This will provide a deep insight into the work of two congenial artists. Not only their intentions become clear, but also the natural co-operation between two independent personalities. The presentation traces the sequence of working steps and reveals discarded ideas for pictures as well as new creative solutions. Detailed photographs document the high artistic quality of the paintings.

ALL EYES ON presents a work or a group of works, an important artist personality or artistic position, guest appearances by individual loans, important restorations or new acquisitions in the centre of the gallery. The artistic and technical qualities of the paintings, their content and significance, the history of their creation and impact, as well as their creators are illuminated in the context of the collection. In this way, new, up-to-date perspectives and diverse insights into the research work at the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen are opened up.
