The exhibition shows the judicial investigations of Nazi crimes conducted by the U.S. military authorities, the court proceedings, and their legacy down to the present day. It presents one of the largest Nazi trial complexes, all too long overshadowed by the betterknown Nuremberg Trials. The pivotal question as how to achieve justice when dealing with war crimes, much discussed at the time, remains pertinent today.
The special exhibition “Dachau Trials - Crimes, Trials and Responsibility” shows the scenes of the crimes, provides information about the legal basis, introduces court personnel, defendants and witnesses and gives an overview of individual trials and their consequences. The broad media resonance of the trials is also addressed. The exhibition deals with one of the largest Nazi trial complexes, which is still overshadowed by the better-known Nuremberg Trials. The questions about justice and dealing with the past that were discussed at the time are still relevant today.
