Did you know that tiny little builders live in many of our rivers and streams? The larvae of caddisflies build little homes out of sand, gravel and plants – known as caddis cases.
Fly fishermen know these insects very well. Using homemade lures, anglers try to mimic their appearance and movements.
These creatures are a sign of good water quality and can also be found in the Isar. This wasn’t always the case: around 20 years ago, the Isar was freed from its narrow canal bed and restored to a near-natural river. A real piece of wilderness in the city!
Be amazed by fascinating exhibits from the Bavarian State Collections of Natural History, interactive stations and exciting insights into the world of fly fishing.
