Stonehenge, the famous prehistoric stone circle in the south-west of England, is now understood more comprehensively than ever before thanks to new archaeological and scientific findings. Modern excavations and analyses show that its builders – early farmers 5,000 years ago – were part of an exciting and complex cultural landscape. The development of Stonehenge spanned centuries and culminated around 2500 BC in the monumental form that continues to fascinate us today. The international exhibition “STONEHENGE. Ancient Secrets, New Discoveries” presents these research findings through around 600 original objects, replicas and immersive media installations. Following successful runs in North America, it is now on display for the first time in Central Europe at the State Archaeological Collection in Munich, having been completely revamped.
